About the Cover

Cover Figure

Cover picture: Dynein immunostain (yellow) in the spindle, the spindle poles, and the kinetochores of a meiotic metaphase cell. The left kinetochore of the chromosome near the lower pole had been detached from spindle microtubules by micromanipulation. It accumulated a large amount of dynein, seen as a bright yellow patch. The partner kinetochore to the right remained attached to microtubules and has only a small amount of dynein. The presence of even a few microtubules prevents dynein accumulation at kinetochores. See related article in this issue by King and Nicklas, 739-748.
